When in Doubt, Don't Blame Mom
Is it always the mother’s fault? Freud thought so. I don’t.
Indeed, sometimes the parents with the most “issues” have the kids who are the most delightful and well-adjusted, and the ones who look and act all June and Ward Cleaver-like end up turning out the kind of progeny about who the neighbors will one day say on TV, “I always thought there was something off about him, especially after he decapitated my cat.”
Another words, you just never know. You try your best and then you pray and/or cross your fingers. I wonder if that’s what Kathy Hilton, Dina Lohan, and Lynn Spears did. Alas, it may be too late for them – unless they start their own support group: MUDD (Mumsies Underwriting Ditzy Daughters).

I have friends who have 5 kids; the dad is a drinker and recreational drugger. He actually lost his job and the family lived in a trailer for 5 years! (before that they lived in a nice home and have since moved into a modest home) The mom is very loving but bullied by the husband. However, the kids are huge emotional and educational successes! Oldest daughter = in med school, next daughter = in law school, 3rd daughter= all expenses ride to private high school, 2 boys = so far A students. I am amazed and can't believe with that father they all are doing so well.
Wow, Tracey. That's a story with a nice happy ending, right? Kudos to those kids (and their loving mom) for being able to make it and rise above such tough obstacles.
Thanks for reading and writing! Cheers, Laurie
